Department of Mechanical Engineering

Overview

We offer several different admission systems, including admission by referral, admission by transfer, and a special selection process for returnees and children of postwar returnees from China.

We also actively recruit international students. To maintain reciprocal relationship with the local community, the School organizes university visit days for junior high and high school students, holds open campus events, and holds fairs at facilities on and off campus.

Program in Mechanical Engineering and Science

Qualifications for Admission

  • College graduates.
  • Persons who have acquired a Bachelor's Degree.
  • Persons who have completed 16 years of schooling overseas.
  • Persons who have, in this country, taken correspondence courses from a school in a country other than Japan and have completed 16 years of school education in that country.
  • Persons designated by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.
  • Persons who have been matriculated in a college for 3 years or more, or have completed 15 years of schooling abroad and are by this graduate school recognized as having excelled in specified courses.
  • Persons, at least 22 years of age, who are judged, by this graduate school, based on an individual examination, to have academic ability equal or superior to that of a college graduate.

Program in Science and Engineering

Qualifications for Admission

  • Persons who have obtained a Master's Degree.
  • Persons who have received, in a country other than Japan, the equivalent of a Master's Degree.
  • Persons who have, in this country, taken correspondence courses from a school in a country other than Japan and received a degree that is equivalent to a Master's degree.
  • Persons designated by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology.
  • Persons, at least 24 years of age, who have been judged upon individual examination to possess academic ability equal to or superior to that of someone who has a Master's degree.

International Graduate Program

Overview

We seek international students for Mechanical Engineering Course, which is a part of The International Graduate Program on Environmental Science and Infrastructure Engineering at Saitama University, Japan.

This program offers highly qualified international students the opportunity to pursue doctoral study and research in related fields of mechanical engineering. The program starts either in April or October and requires a minimum residency of three years for a Degree of Ph.D./Doctor of Engineering/Doctor of Science.Class instruction, research supervision and guidance are conducted in English while dissertations, reports, examinations and presentations may be given in English also.

The program quota of students is 34, and 14 of them are awarded to the full support scholarship of the Monbukagakusho (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of the Government of Japan: MEXT).
